I just bought an Ontario RAT 7 and i am not happy with it. The handle is really thick and the blade seems flimsy, feels like i could snap it in half but it is light. Any opinions??????

Suggest you talk with Tom of Chestnut Ridge -- think his BF handle is CRKS (or something very similar). He often posts in the Camillus sub-Forum under BF.

As the Beckers he loves to offer become harder to find, he's been talking about Ontario. Suspect he'd like to talk with you about your experience.

I just got a RAT 7 and my impression is completely different. It sounds like you are talking about a different knive..........................

Same here. I have 2 RAT-7s, and they are built like tanks. Flimsy blade? Not mine. :)

cheers

its not that the blade is flimsy im comparing it to my chris reeves green beret knife and the blade seems so much lighter i dunno just my opinion. and its 1095 whoever asked

I was the one who asked. :)

You've got 3/16 inch thick stock on the Ontario.

It shouldn't feel flimsy; but might not feel the same as
a much more expensive knife like the CRK you mentioned.

hmmmm... I just got the RTAK II. It's also 3/16" thick (like the RAT 7) and definitely not flimsy.
Are we talking about the same thing?

rtak II and rat 7

Anyway, if the Ontario is too light for you,
you really go for very very very duty blades.

Do you have a Busse?

I agree on the Busse recommendation. Also Ranger knives.
I don't think they come much sturdier and tougher than these...

I cannot beleive you actually think the blade is "flimsy" on a RAT 7, what are your comparing it to, an Ax? I smell a "rat" with this post.

I agree comparing a $100 Rat-7 1095 blade to a $300 CRK 7" S30V GB is not a fair comparision.

I to own a 7" Green Beret and do like it. Although, there have been threads/posts of folks complaining about how the GB tang extends above the handle.

thanks the busse knives are a bit to big for me i dont like knives that big but the ranger knives looks pretty badass

Busses come in all sizes. You just have to try your hand at the secondary market if you don't want a Battle Mistress at present time.

Sounds as if you should take a prybar in for a slack belt grind. . . .
