"Ontario Rugged Gear"...who is this company?

I'm a bit confused about knives I have seen on dealer sites and in magazines that have the brand name "Ontario Rugged Gear" and are made in China. When I go to the official website for the Ontario Knife Company, there is no mention of "Ontario Rugged Gear" knives, and I cannot locate a company website for "Ontario Rugged Gear". Is this just another example of one company trying to have a name similar to another company so folks who like Ontario Knife Company products will buy Ontario Rugged Gear products thinking they are all made by the same company (when they are not)? Are the two brands owned by the same company? Any help making sense of this would be appreciated.
 
Ontario calls their Chinese import line Rugged Gear the same way Spyderco calls their Chinese import line Byrd. That's all there is too it.
 
I recently bought one of their imported knives. It was definetely a good buy for the money. In fact, I don't think it did take away from any American jobs. I don't think a single American company makes a knife in the pattern that I bought, in the size that I want (sub 4'' edged). I have also found that name brand China knives tend to be higher quality than the no-names- since the company needs to protect it's good name.
 
that's a bloody nice looking knife.it's a pity they did'nt maufacture knives like that in their own plant
