I'm wanting a multi-purpose camp/survival knife and this seems to have what I'm looking for in a blade. I was wondering if anyone has any experience with it and any of its strong suits and shortcomings. Posting pictures is encouraged, though not necessary. Just looking for opinions and if anyone recommends it. Your responses will be greatly appreciated.

NOTE: I am aware of Ontario's legal scuff with RAT Cutlery. This is not something that will affect my decision, so I would prefer if that topic not be brought up here, please. Thank you.

I've got one and I'm super pleased with it.
Chopps and splits wood like a hatchet, I reprofiled it a little, but I am really particular about what I want.
Now it shaves and makes fuzzsticks like a dream.
I've beat this thing like nothing else, and it has held up great.
I don't think you will regret it if you buy one..

Thank you. I also plan on thinning the edge out in mine, as it is sabre-ground I believe isn't it? I was going to get the Ontario Kukri, but I'm rundown on kukris because the last three blades I have bought have been kukri shaped.

ok I had just about made up my mind for a kabar cutlass, then this thread pops up.i like that Ontario, gonna check their stuff out. decisions.

Yeah, the SP-10 is a great knife, and generallly highly regarded as well. You can find a lot of positive reviews along with footage of it chopping and stuff on Youtube as well.

You won't regret it, especially for the very reasonable price. I had the edge on mine convexed. It is now a very strong and very sharp edge. A great buy.

I plan on reprofiling it with my belt sander and putting a nice and sharp convex on it. I'm ordering it sometime this afternoon

It's a good knife for a really great price. The handle is large. The Kraton can replaced with a custom handle if desired. The edge is thick but can be reprofiled.

I have one of the early ones with the smooth finish. If I'm ever lost in the woods, this is the knife I want to have with me! I still have the original edge profile and I can get it shaving sharp very easily. Great knife for the money or at any price point for that matter.

i am not a huge fan of the pinky wear that extended use of the knife can bring, i switched to a bk2, undeniably does almost identical work, zero pinky wear, slightly less weight (lol)

I've got one too, and have used it a bit. It's a huge, heavy behemoth. I generally use mine for splitting kindling and other hatchet-like chores. Very sturdy, I have found mine to be pretty much un-kill-able so far. For the money, it's great.

I had to reprofile mine, not impressed with the steep angle. But now with a convex grind and a polished edge down to 1500 grit, I'm happy. I actually sliced a finger wide open putting the final edge on it. I respect it much more now. The sheath still honks , but I'll take what I can get for $59 and it's MUCH better than their Ontario kukri's sheath! ;)

They're very nice, and a modern alternative to something like a Western W49, that young guys like me missed out on. All in all a lot of knife for the price. I like mine, and feel it's a no nonsense profile, with a more contemporary look. I may strip the finish off of mine in favor of a patina.
