Ontario SP10 and SP1 or Any from the Bush Series

I have enough money to get both an Ontario SP10 (marine bowie) and SP1 (USMC like fighter)

But I could also use the $75 to buy one of Ontario's Bush Series knives like the RD-7:

What would you chose? I do want a long decent chopper so the RD might be best for that. But having both the SP10 and SP1 would be great, having a chopper with the sp10 and a combat knife sp1 I could play around with (keeping my nice KaBar USMC locked up.

Any suggestions. I am not familiar much with Ontario's Bush Series. I have a bunch of knives and don't need any for a specific purpose. I just collect a lot. Just never owned a Rat/RD/Esee before, not sure if it's worth going for the cheaper RD series by Ontario or going ahead with getting both the SP1 and SP10. The RD's will always be there for the time being, but this sale is going to end soon on the the SP1 and SP10's

Thanks guys,

Will

2 knives are better than one, but while I have the money, is it worth spending it on the rd-7 and forgetting about the Raider and SP1?

I heard the Raider was supposed to be pretty awesome though, could be a lighter weight chopper than the rd-7

Any thoughts?

I think it's a only you can decide question you're asking. You could go either way and be completely happy. I have no experience with the Ontario knives you are considering, but I do have some Ranger blades and they are nice.

I think you answered your own question in your OP, Will:

The RD's will always be there for the time being, but this sale is going to end soon on the the SP1 and SP10's.

I'd suggest you buy the Ontario SP blems on the cheap while you still can. :)

ok bld522, I kind of wanted to make sure the SP's weren't bad quality or anything. I have no experience with either one. I've heard good reviews about the SP10 and did want to get one of those, but the SP1 I wasn't sure about. I saw it for $40 one time and wondered if it was as good as Ka-Bar's USMC, why the cheaper price?

My original intent with Ka-Bar was to keep my brown leather one un-used and spend $60-$60 getting the 1213 model (black, straight, full, kraton, hard glass filled sheath). But for half the price, I hope that SP1 will be a good enough substitute. Thats my primary concern at this point.

Thanks your your responses!

Got both the SP1 and the SP10 from Chestnut and they will either arrive today or Monday. I'm excited as this will save me a lot getting factory seconds.

Thanks again for all the help guys!

Just got them in the mail. TOTALLY worth the price from Chestnut on the factory seconds. All it is, is that the sharpened exposed area is a bit wider than it should be near the base. So it's really unnoticeable and after a few uses will look just like any other one did.

Very glad I made these purchases. I would recommend at least getting that SP10 while they still have it, I think there are only 2 left.
