Where the hell are they?
Are they discontinued?

Its a really nice knife, I like it much better than the SP10.

Im gonna have to pick one up before they are all gone.

Please, no ontario hate! I know some people dont like ontario for various reasons, but they work, and I dont have anything against them besides that whole crap-deal with ESEE/Rat.

i heard the spec plus line was disco'd and i believe the reason being is that they are focusing on the ranger line now.

The Ontario SP5 is a great tool. we modified the top profile a little to change the chopping balance some.
it is a favorite bush chopper.
you are headed in the right direction

Zhangmaster12,
You've got mail.

The SP5 is one of my favorites. Outstanding value. A great knife at a great price.

I sure hope the Spec Plus line doesn't go bye-bye.:(
If it is, guess I better get my butt in gear and get a Marine Raider before it's too late.

Can someone with better knowledge confirm that the whole spec plus line is being discontinued? Those were some of the best deals on knives to be had.

I don't think the whole line has been discontinued. I think the SP5 has been discontinued.

zhangmaster12,
Didn't get the mail. Sorry, but I forgot to update to my newer address. It's only been two years since I switched. I am my village's idiot.:foot:
Anyway, I'm very glad to hear you got one.
It boggles my mind as to why they would discontinue what could arguably be the best knife in their entire Spec Plus line-up.:confused::confused:

Here you go, response to an email I sent to Ontario regarding this issue. I am going to remove the rep's name because I don't have their permission.

Ontario Knife Company has not discontinued the Spec Plus line. We have
discontinued a few of the slow sellers and have also come out with the
new Spec Plus Gen II line. We are in the process of updating our
website and the new Spec Plus Gen II line will be able to view in a few
weeks. In the meantime, I will send you a updated catalog that has the
Gen II in the catalog.

Thank you,

Ontario Knife Company

Only thinner than the 1/4in bowies and the survival machete. Most of the rest of the spec plus line were the standard 3/16in. But yeah, good to know a good inexpensive option will still exist out there.

I have several pieces in the Spec Plus line and think they are excellent knives regardless of the price. My Marine Raider bowie is a particularly nasty piece. That thing is a whole lotta blade no matter what the price. I started buying this line from SMKW quite a while back and amongst some other 'Big Name' knives I have they are not the least of my knives. They will hold their own any time.
