What are your opinions on this knife?

How does it compare to, say, the Ka-bar offerings or Cold Steel's OSS or Recon Tantos?

I had one of these in the mid-1990s. The 8-inch blade makes it a good chopper. But I found it too heavy to carry around
as an infantry Marine — it was just didn't get used enough to justify carrying it.

Back then, they came with thick, 30-degree (or more) edges. Once I came across Cold Steel's offerings. I started selling
off the various Ontario Knives I had collected up to that point. I had a few of them:

The SP10 Marine Raider Bowie, the SP13 8-inch bladed tanto, the SP5 Bowie and the kukri,

I'm wondering if I should buy a Ka-Bar or one of the Spec Plus knives (looking at SP6).

How thick is the full tang on the Spec Plus line, is it really a full tang or a Ka-Bar-like "full length" tang?

I own many of the SP line. SP8, 10, 17, 47, Kukri, AFSK. IMHO, you can't go wrong with any of them. The tang is as thick as the blade is but it is not a full width tang. It is NOT a rat tail tang either. It is obvously not as wide as the handle but it is close. I have batoned with all of mine with no issues. I like them. They are a good value---sheaths, not so much. They are worthy of a custom sheath though. Can you break one---sure you can, as with most knives.

Which would you guys pick for a Walter Mitty fighting knife?

I dig the sharpened clip on the SP6.

Right now the sheath is the only thing I don't like about the SP6. The Ka-Bar has a better heath. Any way to get a better sheath? Something that doesn't take half an hour to deploy from?

There is a brand of tactical gear out of Texas, Spec Ops Brand that has a line of after market sheaths that might work for
the Ontario SP6.

Are the Tang as thin and stick tang like Ka-Bars....I am planning to buy SP6 or FF6 fighting knife...shall I proceed leaving Ka-Bar USMC?

i searched google for getting tang pics of ff6 , but i failed.

SP6 tang is wide enough and has a radius neck , it is s very strong knife!
