I've been looking for my first Ontario Knife. I want it to be strictly a combat so I very little interest in their survival knives, I'm leaning towards their Spec Plus series. The two i'm most interested in is the SP6 and their Land, Air, and Sea knife. I have read many reviews about the SP-6, but I haven't found anything on the Land, Air, Sea. I like the looks of this knife, but the lack of reviews leads me too beleive that this knife is quite unpopular. So does anybody have the Land, Air, and Sea or an input? Thx

I currently own: SP-2 Air Force Survival Knife, SP-8, SP-10, SP-17, SP-47, SP-51, SP-53, SP-Kukri. I love them all. I have batoned with all of them. They are great knives. As for the SP-6, not my first choice, neither would the SP-15 L.S.A., but i am sure it is a fine knife. I CAN highly recommend the SP-2, that is a GREAT little knife. Nice pointy tip for penetration, yet no so big as to be cumbersome.

Of mine, the SP2, SP17, SP47 are .188" thick. The SP8, 10, 51, 53, Kukri are 1/4" thick.

If you want an EXCELLENT combat knife----you owe it to yourself to check out the BK&T BK-7 Combat/utility knife.:thumbup: http://www.tomarskabars.com/BK-7_INFO.html

It is full width/full tang/extended tang. They don't get any stronger, plus it has the fighting knife style as well. :D

I couldn't agree with you more about the Becker Series, they are built like tanks and offer a nice variety designs. But for the full size knives they are a bit pricey, but from what I hear they offer a good bang for your buck. Only problem I was planning on getting a stheath made for the Spec Plus series. So if I was going to get one made up for a BK it would put me over budget. Maybe if someone realizes the best gift to get me for christmas is a knife, I would hope it would be a Becker.

Get the BK-7 for Christmas, then save up for or ask for your birthday---for a custom sheath. BAMM-there you go!!! :D

Here is mine. I LOVE IT !!!! Drop-leg-swivel set up with a 1.5" elastic/adjustable leg strap w/quick release buckle. :D

Don't have experience with the Ontario, but I can +1 the BK7. What a knife! Come's hair poppin' sharp from the factory, and the sheath isn't all that terrible to me. Also, if you get one now, you're getting it with the new coating and etching (specify Gen2).

The only Ontario I have is the RTAK II, which is a beast of a knife, but not what you're looking for.

Yeah, custom sheaths are REALLY the way to go for a great knife. Do your research & find a maker that will make it EXACTLY the way you want. Worth every penny. The hot ticket for me personally is a drop-leg-swivel set up. It lets you carry a large blade all day long with no fatigue. Does not interfere with packs. Can even be made for left side carry if you carry a firearm on your right side. Sooo many options. I like a big drain hole so it don't freeze shut if out in the cold & snow. You want it tight enough to not rattle but not so tight it freezes in the sheath during cold weather use. I like mine to have a"solid snap or click" when re-sheathing it, so i KNOW it is secure without looking or using 2 hands. Thumb ramps are also important to me. Lets me remove the blade quietly when/if needed. A nice wide, elastic leg strap with a quick release buckle is also good. Heavy Duty hardware is a must for durability. Take your time, do your research & get it right the first time. You will smile every time you put it on, from that day forward. :D
