I just scored another Ontario Strike Fighter by OKC in 154CM. I have both, the older version with pronounced thumb ramp and small serrations and the newer one with small thumb ramp and deep serrations. I'm digging these. They are my first and only automatic knives and I love the aluminum handles and the handle geometry feels really comfortably in hand. Wonder what other opinions are on these knives that seem to have gone under the radar.

I also have both versions. I think they are well worth the heavily discounted price l paid for them. I had a problem with the earlier version, the release button was a bit sticky. After flushing the mechanism with quality oil, the problem seems to have been fixed.

How about some pictures of these beauties?

Damn, you weren't kidding about the deep discount. BladeHQ has em for a steal.
Yes sir. Except the newer version with smaller thumb ramp and deep serrations is now gone for good. So only the older version with big thumb ramp and small serrations is left. I got the newer one last year for $59. And then just picked up the older version for $69 because I know they are going to be gone soon.

I have one, really like it I wonder when they started machining a slot in the blade. I got mine when they first discounted it, paid around 95$. Weird to put it out there on sale and be adding another step in the process

Neither of mine has a slot machined into the blade. I purchased both models in the last 90 days, from the retailer mentioned above.

The slot in the blade must be really old versions as the original XM folders had it. Both of mine don't and I prefer that. Don't know why you would want to weaken a blade by cutting material out like a slot or hole. One reason why I have never been a Spyderco fan I guess.

I have always questions about the slots, holes, etc. Like you said, why potentially weaken a blade?

It’s auto. The slot is more likely to balance the blade. On the other hand, if one push the knife so hard
they will be other elements that will give up before such a thick stock of the blade will break, IMO.

My spydercos have never broke. I bought an abused 1st generation Endura - missing tip and integral clip, serrations 30% gone to a grinder. Still in use today, hasn't broke at the hole yet :)

I wonder if the photo is of prototypes, and the production knives omitted the slot?
