Hey Everyone,

Been trying to contact Ontario for a while about getting the scales replaced on my TAK-1, and I havent heard back from them.... ever. :/ I managed to crack mine, and when I really bear down withit, it pinches my hand.

Will RC scales fit?

Thanks!

That sucks....I doubt RC scales will fit.... call Ontario or an Ontario dealer... or wrap it with duct tape...

Wished we could help, but there's nothing we can do.

Yup, I figured as much, was just hoping someone that knew the size of the RC scales might was HEY, yeah these will match it! Sigh.... Tis ok, using my RC3 now, but dont like it when my knives arent 100% ready to use.

Will give Ontario a shout again....

Thanks anyways and Merry Christmas to everyone!

Well called and got someone... very nice guy in sales/customer service that wasnt sure of price, etc, but said he would call me back tomorrow or after the holiday.... so we'll see... :)

Wait a minute. I can help you. I just thought about it. I have an old TAK with canvas micarta scales. Email me your mailing address and we're golden. jeff@ratcutlery.com

I can't even begin to say how much this is appreciated. Words just don't say it, but thanks Jeff. This makes my Christmas a whole lot brighter.

Going out today USPS Priority. Actually I'm just sending you the whole knife and you can remove the scales if you want. It was a sample of the TAK (Ontario) that we were going to do in Foliage Green. Anyway, it's a new knife and a one of a kind since it was the only sample made in the puke colored Foliage Green. Enjoy.

Now he's sitting there with his new (to him) TAK thinking, "welllll shit. I don't want to take apart this one off piece of history. Now I'm right back to trying to find a replacement scale." LOL.

LOL,yeah I feel sorry for him:D

By the way, I'll be crackin on your stuff pretty soon. I've got all those days off the beginning of the year. I'm going to use those to make sheaths and knives... and go frozen fishing (sitting on the dock, drinking my face off with a line in the water). I did that one year and the DNR guy came by. He said, "you got a hunting and fishing license?" I says, "no." He said, "you know it's illegal to catch anything and hunt anything without one?" I says, "yeah." By the way, I am well lit by this point. He says, "Well then what the hell are you doing?" I says, "look buddy... you think I'm gunna catch anything today?" He says, "hell no. It's too cold." I said, "well I don't think I am either. I just like sitting here with a line in the water, drinking my beer and smoking a cigar. If we both agree I aint gonna catch a damn thing, then why are you hasseling me?" He says, "Fare enough. If you do, throw it back." I said, "will do. Wanna beer?" LOL. Georgia DNR guys might be anal, but at least they're reasonable. lol

Well... I admit I am a bit ..... "shy" of using this wonderful gift, and one of a kind in the woods... but then again, Jeff isnt being so kind as to send it to me so it can become a safe queen either. Probably will end up duct taping my old TAK and using it for the really rough stuff, and use the TAK from Jeff gently... well sort of.. :)
