Hi guys, anyone have one of those??? I thinking of getting one as a trail openner. What steel is it made of???? Thank's !!!

I have one of the early versions and it's a gas to have! My understanding when I purchased it from a reputable dealer was that the blade steel is 1095. Whatever it is, it takes a heck of beating! Not sure how well it would work as a trail opener, but it would be hella fun trying to find out!

Thank's TFD, I don't know 1055, what is it comparable to???

Just as 1095 is plain carbon steel with nominal 0.95% carbon,
1055 is plain carbon steel with nominal 0.55% carbon.

1055 is used a lot for swords and throwing knives and items that have to withstand impact more than retain an edge.

I don't know what steel is in the blade you are looking at. Since the Ontario Wakizashi is a sword, 1055 is a good guess.
