Hey I got another knife in question... What do you guys think?

The steel seems as quality as s30v.

Also, how is the locking system on it? Are there any reviews on this knife out?

Is this new to market? I'm considering this knife instead of the retribution (no pocket clip, get one isntalled?), and the manix ( a bit too big)

Thanks

The steel is no where near S30V. Try 440C.

I said near quality, NOT same as...

Plus, i read on some posts that there is mixed opinions on the steel vs s30v

Right, you asked if it was near S30V, and I said it was no where near :p

If I recall correctly, both sizes of Retribution folders are bigger than the Spyderco Manix.

I don't know what to tell you, but if I were you, I would be looking at some Benchmades or Spydercos, etc.

Or more like VG-10.

N690Co
C: 1.07%
Cr: 17.00%
Co: 1.50%
Mn: 0.40%
Mo: 1.10%
Si: 0.40%
V: 0.10%

VG-10
C: 0.95-1.05%
Cr: 14.50-15.50%
Co: 1.30-1.50%
Mn: 0.50%
Mo: 0.90-1.20%
Si: 0.60%
V: 0.10-0.30%

Don't get too caught up in the "steel of the month" saga.

S30V is not the end all of all steel. It is pretty good for some things, but it is not the end all.

440C, BG42, VG10, AUS8/10, CPM154V, CM154, ATS34, N690, RW34L, D2, CPM3V, and carbon steels are all good steels depending on the use and the heat treatment.

Daniel's right. Good steel is good steel. Getting finicky about the flavor-of-the-month is pretty much meaningless. A good manufacturer should see to it that all their steels are properly heat-treated.

As for this steel, the N690 of the XM-1 is very successful in the Extrema Ratio knives.

hello, i had one for a while, its a well made knife, but the handles are real thick,& the pocket clip is mounted a bit low on the knife, below the pivot pin,its not the most comfortable knife to carry.the handles are the thickest aluminum ive ever seen.the blade at the spine is also very thick.the lockup was perfect, blade was sharp,& the liner engaged at the 1st part of the tang.it was very smooth opening & closing, too.i just wish the pocket clip was mounted closer to the top of the knife,it would make it carry better in the pocket.

Exactly what I thought when I handled this knife. THICK!!! I just didn't see the value to price ratio worth it to me. (trust me, I can rationalize a new knife with the best of 'em)
