when I try to disassemble the knife, it was discovered - that the axial screw has a face and a round hole just as seen in the photo. because of the feil- the knife is not actually possible to disassemble and vice versa. screw scrolls around its axis ..!!!!!!

How could you prevent it? or you think no one will try to make out a knife? and whether this defect is covered by warranty?

Might be a defect. Contact KA-BAR, and talk to Toooj. He may see it here anyways, but I'm sure there is supposed to be a flat in there, to keep the spin down. :D

It looks like you can put an adjustable wrench on the flat and then unscrew from the outside. That is my internet guess, I haven't seen one of those in person.

Is it a safe assumption that manufacturers warrant that users will be able to completely disassemble all folding knives?

It's a bit odd that they made it with a notched bolt (probably not even close to the right name) but put it in a round hole. Seems like that is an additional cost for no pay-off. Maybe it was supposed to have a notched hole?

They make really flat wrenches for bicycles. I believe they are called cone wrenches.

Codename,

Sorry for not answering sooner but I wanted to get back in the warehouse to check on the knife in question.

The main pivot has a flat on the female barrel. There is a matching flat on the pile side plastic handle scale. That stops the barrel from turning. The steel liner does not have the same flat.
If your plastic scale does not have the flat, it was probably destroyed it when you took the knife apart or tried to reassemble.
I do not believe this is a warranty issue but if you send the knife back to KA-BAR we will replace it for you.
Hope this helps.

Thank you for your response. you may be right, I could damage the ledge that held the screw. I would like to disassemble the knife for that would remove the cover. I have had and still have a lot of knives, and various manufacturers. but I first encountered such an unreliable design mounting screws. for that would make out a knife I had to cut a groove on the screw, and two screwdrivers to unwind. I did not know that he has such a tender design or maybe just an engineering error. knife as I unrolled that would remove the cover - the new knife I do not ineteresen (again, it unraveled, etc.). send me a new screw and plate;)
p.s. i like my new Ka-bar knife, with out coute.

Today I have given into the hand of the parcel, which was totally new handle. Ka-Bar I am very grateful to you. After such an action on your part, I am more fond of your knives! Thank you very much, Yours sincerely, Alexander.

Ka-Bar is awesome, and they just reassured me of that. I have never seen customer service that good.
