Well, I was washing off my pocket stone, and went to shake off the waterwhen it went sailing out of my hands straight onto the ceramic tiled floor. It was some type of washita like pocket stone that was perfect for light touch ups of my carbon blades and SAK. Gave a nice, almost polished finish but still was useful for sharpening and not just finishing up. So I guess the question becomes what would a good replacement be? I threw the spydie in the pic for a size reference :o

I've been thinking about a nice pocket stone as well. Something that can be used to fix a beat up edge but isnt going to ruin one of my finer edges. The fallkniven DC4 types stone has a diamond side and a ceramic side and looks like it would fit the bill. Only problem is not many people seem to have them so its tough to find a good review of the stone.

Eze-lap has a number of diamond sharpeners ,take your pick. I've been using them for many years .Will sharpen anything ,won't break. Highly recommended !!!

I have some DMT benchstones, and I do like them. Diamonds are definately an option, but I did like my little washita stone quite a bit. I wonder if I could pick up a slightly bigger; maybe 4x1" stone somewhere with a nice leather case like this had...

I would replace your Washita with another just like it. Diamonds leave a much coarser edge.

It does look like a very nice stone but i would worry about breaking it again while in the field. Where can you even get a close replacement for that one?

I haven't found any as nice as that one looked, but a quick google search brought up a number of hits for washita pocket stones. This may be a little bit of a search to find a nice one...

Now, washita's are the coarsest arkansas stone out there right? Or am I backwards?

Ever seen THIS site? lots of natural stones on it. I think the washita stones are supposed to be "soft".

Edit: or email this guy his website sucks but its got some nice stones on it.
