Oosic durability?

I am thinking about using Oosic for a dagger handle and was wondering if anyone knows about it's durability? ie: does it tend to crack with time like Ivory, does it change colors, etc. Any input would be helpful.

Mr. Jail, Oosic is a bone. Some of it that I have seen is very brittle because of fossilization. It needs to be stabilized if its that old. The fresh stuff is very light colored and solid enough. They make nice dagger handles and wont change color enough to worry about. Bruce
