I just came across this Led converter for the mini mag. I was just wondering if anyone has tried it out yet. Bye the way this is a awsome forumn. Glad to apart of it

I'm very impressed with mine. Easy to install - no tools, and very well constructed. I highly recommend it. And ten hours full power!
I have also ordered an Inretech drop-in Luxeon Star kit for mini maglite. These are brighter than the Opalec but with shorter run time.
LED's are definitely the way forward for personal lights.

I converted my Mimi-Mag with an Opalec NewBeam kit. I love it!!! You can't focus the beam anymore, but what you get is reasonably bright and lasts a long time.

I converted all my mini Maglites to use the Opalec NewBeam because the NewBeam produces a clean, white light that lasts up to twice as long as the stock mini Maglite. Since the NewBeam uses LEDs you will never have to change flashlight bulbs.

I even gave mini Maglites and NewBeams as groomsman gifts when I got married in September.

The Opalec is an easy to install, quality built item. Just make sure you have a new design Mini-Mag, won't work on the older design. Check Opalec's web site on how to tell the difference.

Guys listen up, I bought a Brinkman "Rebel" at Wal-Mart this weekend cost around 14 bucks, THIS THING KICKS THE BUTT OF ANY 1 LED light I have ever seen, uses 2 AA batteries has one LED it's about the size of a Mini_Maglight but has a custom optic lense on it that focuses the beam and makes this the best LED light you will find, Forget the expensive conversions and the high dollar flashlights this thing rocks! I promise you it does.

I got the Brinkman Rebel and was, quite frankly, underwhelmed. The rings in the beam are very annoying to me, and the brightness is just a little higher than a stock Minimag.

Great runtime, though. I lend it out to people needing flashlights. Someone lost my clip thingie, the point of attachment was just too loose. Oh well, no big loss, at $14.

Can anyone compare the brightness and beams of the Newbeam conversion and the Brinkman Rebel?

AlphalphaPB mine has no rings in it at all, makes a perfect spot the brightness of it compares to any 1 LED light I have and I have quite a few. But it is a 14 dollar light maybe the QC of it isn't great and light, spot, rings very from flashlight to flashlight,.

I don't own a Brinkman Rebel. It may indeed be a great light. It is, however, a single LED flashlight. The Opalec Newbeam has three LEDs. I LOVE mine!

Yep, NGK-Webmaster, maybe I just got a bad one. I'm going to try using Write-rights to smooth out the beam.
