Opals

What size and type do you need,Mark.I have a bit of rough.I know the big opal supplier for the US.He lives in N.C. He sells some neat types you may like.Tougher than regular opal.I smell,"Road Trip." I can give you all the books and advice you need (as well as supplies) on polishing and cutting them.

I probably should have posted this in the off topic section. I'm mainly looking for something for Deb as an anniversary present. I figured opals were like most things now, a million different types and grades. Just wanted to make sure I dont get crap. Looking for something in the $500-$1000 range.

I'm not sure what you're looking for, Mark. Tim Thomas, who owns House of Tibara has sold me a few thousand worth over the years.
He has some really nice stuff. The opals you'll never see at a jewelers.

Mark, you are looking for a cut stone for a jewelry piece? or rough that you can cut yourself ?

Thanks for all the messages guys. It's kind of a hard call on what to get an artist (wifey). I REALLY appreciate all the messages..
