I can't find any info on open carry of a fixed blade in WA state. I believe it's legal to carry any knife concealed as long as the blade isn't over 3 1/2" fixed or folder. Now when hiking can I carry a fixed blade over 3 1/2? At least open carry say a 4 1/2 blade and not get in trouble? Is it legal to carry any fixed blade open carry? Any links would be appreciated. Thanks

I'm not sure of the state laws concerning open carry, but if you are out in the woods you usually won't get hassled about a knife. You could always keep it in a backpack if you take one with you. Just wait, I bet others will add in on this. ;)

WA state is an open carry state in regards to handguns, but don't do that when in town as it scares the sheep and overzealous law enforcement will find a way to make you miserable.

The woods are another matter entirely. It's normal to see open carry guns/blades when out in the woods. Especially during hunting season.

I am not aware of any laws in my state (FL) that make it illegal to carry in the open, where carrying a knife is generally legal. However, in the past, persons have been arrested for disturbing the peace when carrying a large sheath knife, in the open and in a conspicuous manner, in busy urban areas, where it attracted a lot of attention. I don't know if the charges stuck, but folks have gone to jail over it. This same "reasoning" may apply in other jurisdictions.
