STR,
This might be nuts but would a screwed together, open- design lock-back folder work? Think about this one and get back to me, if you think I'am worthy.
Concept- 2 G-10 handle slabs, stainless lock assembly, and blade steel of choice. Thanks.

I don't think I need to think too hard about it unless I misunderstand what you mean by open design. To be an 'open' design as I understand the term there would have to be no spring holder or lockbar. I don't know how I'd pull off the lock if it were an open design like a frame or liner lock can be.

STR,
Let me try this again. Can a lock-back folder be made that can be disassembled? I really like AG Russel's Brute but I would like it better with an adjustable pivot screw and if it could be field- stripped. I hope this makes more sense. I used open-design in the wrong sense. Thank you.

Well, yeah sure its possible. The one I built for myself shown in teal G10 there in my signiture line is a complete take apart knife.

What I'd recommend if you want the Brute or some other similar model you like is to buy it or find a link to it and send me some pictures. You could also send it to me to evaluate and if possible I could then take it apart and rebuild it in a take apart construction for you replacing all the current pins with screws and barrels if it looks like its possible.

I have seen the Brute and it is made without steel liners of any kind. Its an all Micarta construction.

I've done this with several other type lockbacks and there are many posted here on my forum. Look up the G11 Jess Horn on one of the other pages, and the all Titanium one I did for myself for a couple examples. I am sure they are probably on page three or four but my forum is new and there are only six pages at this writing so it should be easy enough to find them and any others since I started it.

I would guess looking at pictures of the Brute that its very possible to replace the existing pins with screws and barrels. But lets say the handle was damaged taking it apart or something. Well, in all liklihood I could redo the entire body reusing the blade, lockbar, spring and holder in new liners or something like I do all the time for other makes that you can see here or in my homepage link picture galleries.
