Open or Concealed Carry?

Lately, I've been reading on various forums that a folding knife clipped to the pocket with just the clip showing is considered open carry and is illegal in some jurisdictions.

I was wondering if a folding knife were in a belt pouch with the pouch closed and no part of the knife showing be considered open or concealed carry?

If you have to carry concealed, get a pouch that says "Nokia" on the outside. :-)

With a case, there could also be the issue as to whether the case is something clearly designed for a knife or not. Obviously, this would mean that basically all traditional sheaths could have propesnity to be called 'openn carry'- it's like a pistol in a traditional belt holster- anybody could easily tell what it is. However, I don't think that would be the case with a case that doesn't make it discernable that the contents are a knife- like a fanny pack or a camera case.

concealed generally means "not in plain view". in other words no part of the knife (or weapon) is visible.

a belt sheath that permits any part of the knife to be seen would not be considered concealed under most sections.
