Why doesn't KA-BAR fkn OWN the market on bayonets, like they used to?

MOFO knife MOFO attachment to Browning MOFO automatic rifle?!

That spells KA-BAR

WHO'S RUNNING THIS COMPANY SUCH THAT YOU DON'T MAKE WEAPON-SPECIFIC BAYONETTES FOR THE WHOLE N.A.T.O. RIFLE ARSENAL?!

1 contract with fnk Southern Pango-Pango, or Burkina Faso > all the TDI knives being boofed in prisons.

Seems like you're paying limp-wristed no-nuts to sit in chairs, and that doesn't win in combat.

Several flavors of the same (basic) bayonet, at a reasonable price, with a focus on non-rifle attachment features (in the name of "customization") , would empower a minimally motivated sales force to sell a 6 figure-house worth of knives every quarter. Fire management, seriously. Otherwise, come up with a new gimmick every quarter or so. -.-

lets take for example, the last completely newly developed
bayonet - the m9 back in the 80's.
( the usmc bayonet is a different story
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/OKC-3S_bayonet )
development and bids for something
new seldom happens.
the initial m9 contract award left
loosers unhappy.
https://www.washingtonpost.com/arch...bayonet/f85376a9-6e1c-4ad9-a665-501c328d57c6/
anyway the m9 bayonet eventually were
awarded to a couple of different companies
over time.
the last being ontario knives.
this is what it looks like
http://worldbayonets.com/Bayonet_Id...FjAAegQIAxAB&usg=AOvVaw0bY2GKURXD7cBrOw3cDfgb
in the end its a complicated process
which is better suited to companies
with deep pockets.
its not something to start from scratch
manufacturing capacity is just one
aspect of securing s contract :-)

When I was an Infantry soldier I would have loved to have had a whole rainbow of bayonets to chose from instead of just getting the same one as everyone else in uniform.

I'm really upset about this because that market is RIPE. Every bar, restaurant, and hotel is a low margin business. You make your money on VOLUME when margins are low, which is exactly why outfitting a small country will generate becoup bucks compared to domestic sales of whatever. KA-BAR has a long, proud tradition of excellence in combat bayonets. Today, it's a bargain-basement retailer that often ends up in the discount section. How does that happen if NOT through incompetence?

cutco owns 'em all..
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cutco
including what is now today's ka-bar.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ka-Bar
which in turn aquired ek knives
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ek_Commando_Knife_Co.
and the on going beautiful chemistry
with ethan becker is solid.
ka-bar has also some spartan knives
added in to its dna :)
"...Ka-Bar CEO John Stitt said Pineland Cutlery is a “force multiplier” for both companies. “We are excited to work hand and hand with Spartan,” he said. “Mergers, partnerships, and most importantly friendships are something that Ka-Bar has been built on. It is at our core; it is in our values. It is something everyone who has a Ka-Bar story knows....”

https://www.knivesillustrated.com/pineland-cutlery-incorporated/
all these things show a corporate hunger for
growth and vision.
as for ka-bar bayonets,who knows?
perhaps.. eventually
:)

OIC they got taken over by a public company, top heavy in management, with a door-to-door sales strategy for kitchen knives?! Story checks out...

You're coming across very confrontational, and there is no reason for that, especially with Ka-Bar. While we certainly appreciate your fervor, there are tons of factors behind the scenes that neither you nor I nor the vast majority of people ever hear about, and that doesn't give you grounds to insult management, especially of a company that has been very good to the knife community and Bladeforums.

Thread closed. Any further hostility or insults are unwelcome and may warrant further action against member.
