They are not in the 2021 catalog.

Here's my little salute to the knife that introduced me to s35vn blade steel.

I've grabbed me up a few. and took some of them hunting..... as the name requires:).

Let's see some pic's of the ones you may have, and maybe a story about your knife.... that would be cool too.

Here's a 537 s30v knife.
I took the pic inside an old U.P. deer blind.
The handle fits my hand well.
It's a toss up between this and my AG Vanguard as to which would be my favorite deer knife..... Tho I have to admit I have never actually used THAT Vanguard....it's too pretty...... And I have this!

It makes no fashion statement.
Just business.
That's what I like most about it.

Thinking back on it, I had gifted my Vanguard just before that to a fellow hunting buddy that was admiring it.... That pressed the Open season into service.

Buck gained a new fan.

Sometimes the best hunting stories are when friends share how much they like the Buck you gave 'em years back. It's cool.

The only Open Season I have is the 538. When I ordered it, I wondered how it would compare to my traditional 100 Series knives. My conclusion is that it's a great little knife.

Not sure if the Waterfowler model 493 was part of the series or not, but this is the only one I bought. It was a good waterfowlers knife and I gave it to a young man I taught to duck hunt. He didn’t have a waterfowling knife and I gave it to him while we were cleaning ducks the first day he shot some. Of course I kept and still use my Buck 102 for the purpose of cleaning ducks. OH

That's sure a nice shanty GPyro. And a good pic of your 537 with some interesting lighting (perhaps from a propane space heater?).

I never gave the Open Season series much thought. As of late I would not mind having the 550 Selector which follows the same ergonomics as the Open Series knives except with plain ole 420HC steel.

I had to look up that 493.....
I guess Buck had a Harvester Series,..... with Micarta handles.
Cool.
I wasn't even aware of them. They look like handy little knives.

That shanty is an old "2 holer"...... (I don't know anybody that I'd want to hang out with that way) it's really not that big.
It got drug out into the woods back in the 60's.
It's one of my favorite places to hang out in the middle of a snowstorm. :p

Thanks.

Here's my 0557ODS-B, Open Season Folding Skinner. Haven't had a opportunity to put it to use.

That is one of my favorite Buck folders.
Big handle, yet not much bigger than a 110 overall really.
And that micarta handle feels great in my hand.

Nice knife.

There were some cool LE versions of this. And even those redwood handled 420hc blades were nice.

There are still some of the s35vn knives in stock....

I missed out on the boning knife.
I put off buying one and then they were gone.
Hopefully one will show up.

Nice!
I was just looking at Bertl's redwood knife thinking that's probably better looking than the green micarta ones.......

Do you still have that nice Moose Skinner?
No moose skinner. I will probably list this one.

The 539 is definitely a favorite.
The 535 is nice one also.
I do like the way the open season series feels in hand.
I hate to see them discontinued.
I bet the boning knife feels well also but I never came across one I could justify.

according to my scale, the 537 is 0.9 ozs lighter than a standard 110.
I'm sure it's because I've been so used to the 110 that I prefer it over the 537. Not that the 537 is uncomfortable.

Sometimes Buck makes no sense. Discontinue the version with a pocket clip and keep the version with a belt carry sheath. Why not keep the pocket clip version and send the sheath. Clip can be removed. I want to carry one but won’t due to limited edition status. 005 of 250
