Open top or horizontal sheath for a 110

Guys,
I'm looking for sheath options for a 110 besides what the factory does. I don't care for the snap much.

Thinking about a horizontal one maybe, if not that then an open top. I really like what I see Vess do (maybe with the snakeskin insert:D )

However, wanted to hear other opinions before I make a move.

Thanks!

HEY OHEN, I KNOW A GUY THAT IS MAKING LEATHER SHEATHS FOR FOLDING KNIVES WITH NO SNAP OR VELCRO. HE USES A LEATHER STRAP THAT CINCHES THE TOP DOWN. DON'T REALLY KNOW HOW TO EXPLAIN IT BUT IF YOU EMAIL ME I'LL GIVE YOU HIS INFO SO YOU CAN TALK TO HIM ABOUT IT.

Hey Ohen...
Interesting topic as I was just about to post in asian-buff thread what I just discovered within the half hour.

I have been carrying the 110 NS BG-42 I got a few days ago in the Buck horizontal sheath. I reached back, the snap open, and with the knife MIA.

This never happened with my JB Woods horizontal sheath...even while riding the bike. No snaps on that one, but it holds snug.

Wanted to get a open horizontal from G2 as his are more streamlined than the JB Woods (which is built to last as long as your Buck). But he doesn't think it will work well with a OAB.

Well, anyway, I looked everywhere and it was no where to be found. Not im my Lear Jet or Rolls. Looked under the seat in the 4x4 and between the cushions of the seat I have my ass in. Nada.

So, I tried the inner bowels of the chair. You know, where bread crumbs, quarters, and doritos go to escape mankind...there it was.

Long story short, the snaps on the Buck sheaths prob need some work. If you recall, prob less than two weeks ago, Jeff had his Rosie Dorado sheath unsnap too, We both lucked out and found 'em. How many have not been so lucky is as SWAG.

In answer your question; I prefer horizontal.

PS, who is "Vess".

Goose .. man I sure am glad that you found your 110 NS GB-42.

I know you are too.

Well this is a good question....I have found my AG S30V sheath open a few times...But the knife is always in place. However, back in 1979 I bought a Gerber Paul knife form AG Russell and they came with the option of an open top sheath. I was working construction at the time and thought the one hand opening to the Paul knife would fit the bill....well that open top sheath was a must have for that knife.....well after one week of use on the job the sheath relaxed a bit and the knife fell out.....lost forever. That knife cost me $75.00; back in "79" that was a lot of swag....lost to a poorly designed sheath. I will never use an open top sheath again. I don't like a horizontal style sheath for the same reason....last week at work I saw a fellow wearing his knife snap type sheath up-side down and when I commented about it ...he said "it will never open on it's own"   . I'll dig out that old sheath and post a pic, if anyone is interested? Glad you guys found your knives.

I'd be devastated if I lost any of my BG42 knives...glad it turned up.

Also, this thread was great timing for me as i've been trying to find info on G2 after seeing many people recommend his work.
