I admit this is a very subtle concern but I just bought a small 21 off the forums with a 2/11 birthdate, the motion of opening the blade is too tight at first but is smooth the rest of the way to the lock position. I have many other sebenzas so I know how it should feel. I took it apart a couple times, cleaned and lubed, that didn't help. I lightly sanded the washers, lubed and re assembled, that didn't help either.

I hope someone around here has some advice, I don't want to send it in.

That just means you got a NIB one. The newer they are the harder they are to break in. It'll take some time but the lock will loosen up a bit. Just keep using it and it will break in nicely.

ya........hope you are right. For the time being it's causing thumb issues :o

just solved it.........took it apart, but instead of jacking with the washers I worked some grease into the slabs. Now it's perfect, Jeez that was easy....

of my 2 small ones one has a harder detent and one of the 2 mnandis has a harder start
probably the detend on yours is harder, not a big issue (I prefer that..) and with time it shoud get better, asap the detent smoothens out the hole in the blade
