I really like my Spyderco Vesuvius a lot, because it's a very visually appealing knife. (I'm also very fond of the lock mechanism, a Compression Lock that uses a milled tang instead of a ball-bearing detent.)
When I open mine, though, at first there is a small shift of vertical blade play. With my thumb in the blade hole, I give a little push toward closing, then another push in the opposite direction toward opening. I can feel a small clunk with each motion, and then the blade/lock are nicely seated and there is no more vertical blade play.
Is this condition common to other people's Vesuviuses? Vesuvius'...Vesuvius's...Vesuvii...
(Just how do you pluralize that??)
I have another Vesuvius that is put away where I don't want to go digging it out, but as I recall, the last time I played with that one it didn't have this "need-to-do-it-1.5-times" issue with blade play and lockup.
I want to know if others experience this. Thanks.
