Season opened here on Tuesday. No one I know has limited yet either. We're going this evening to our honey hole and breaking out the decoys and mojo, so hopefulley this evening. Once the farmers start cutting their milo and sunflower fields we'll swamped in them.

Been out for squirrels, but never dove hunted. Need to find someone to show me the ropes.

Yep, got another limit yesterday. 15 doves for 30 shots, so much better than the opener on Tuesday where I struggled! Soaking in saltwater and will be on the grill tomorrow

Went yesterday here north of Austin (temple, Texas) Lemme tell yall it sucked so bad. We pulled up at the lease and got out. We were walking to our spots on about 45 acres of land and BAM!! outta nowhere we had them flying like crazy! half of us were not even loaded up yet. Had to drop our gear and start shootin and by the time they got to me they had gotten enough altitude i couldn't hit squat! after 3 hours 10 of us had killed 7 birds lol. The first rush we got 3 and then just singles like once every 30 min. Don't get me wrong Im a great shot but its kinda hard to hit anything when its not there. I got half a bird....LoL I shot one and winged it and when it was limpin along me and a cousin in law popped it at the same time so we split it lol. Going back this afternoon so we will see if they are doin more today. Got the birds cleaned down to the breast with the hearts pulled waitin on making gravy with 'em.

Sweet! I haven't went for doves yet, but I have gotten a few squirrels so far ;)

Went out today again and it was better. Got 10 in a few hours then needed to get back to the house to balance the wife time in. My sons had a blast out there though.

Went out tonight and it was nuts. The only problem the groups that were 15+ birds were flying the other side of the treeline!!! and then when they did pop out it was so nuts with so many it was hard to decide which to shoot lol. Got 7 tonight. Actually winged 5 more but the damn things just kept limping off to the trees about 600 yards off!! and no dog to work for them today. But overall Great time and great hunt.

N. Georgia fields are pretty bare. Wish I could report better, but not this time. Ever split the breast, then stuff a jalapeno on one side, a piece of string cheese on the other, then wrap with bacon, pin it all together with toothpicks and put on the grill. Now that is what I was hoping for Labor Day.

Good Luck.

Umm,, sounds good. I've had them wrapped in bacon with soy sauce before. Have to try em like that.

Yup. Dove wrapped in bacon is AWESOME with jalapenos. I usually pan cook mine and then make a cream gravy outta the scratch with dove hearts quartered for chunky bits and then make black eyed peas with cornbread. cant get much better than how mom made 'em.

Man am I jealous. I left the states on the 31st so I get to miss the whole month of September. Haven`t had the chance to get any reports from back home but last year was pretty good and this year was looking to be the same.
