This buck was about 15 miles east of where I live (Wilson creek, WA, located in the Columbia basin) I got him with my remington 700 chambered in 308. He was hanging out at the bottom of a bowl and I peeked over the edge and there he was. He took off running but he decided to go up the rock slide. He was quartering away and I was above him so I had a nice good look at his back. I just put the crosshairs on his spine behind his shoulders. The bullet hit the spine and exited right out his chest. He dropped like a sack of potatoes. The shot didn't kill him instantly though so I did have to finish him with my 1911.
I should've gotten a pic of my knife all covered in gore, I used my trusty Bradley mayhem butterfly to gut him out. It was a little gunky when I was done and it took a little more momentum but it still flipped close for me.
I was by myself so I didn't get the nice posed picture in the field. I had to settle for my buddies yard.
Here's a side view of the antlers. They're pretty interesting.
Muzzle loading is in here in Ohio and spent the day in a tree stand..No deer, but on arriving home I found 5 beside the house...To late for shooting...........Beautiful muley..............carl.
