Hello all, I received my new small Sebenza 21 about a month ago, and love the knife. The one thing that bothered me though was how the blade deployed. Yes, it deployed smoothly and locked satisfyingly in place with a loud click, but after being used to flippers it was not so satisfying. I tried different lubrication, but I found no real difference from the supplied lubricant.

Then I read somewhere on the forums about polishing the washers. Wow, what a difference that made, I used my strop to put a mirror finish to the blade side of the washers. Now the blade flicks open easily via the thumb stud with no wrist. The pivot and screws are all tight, and blade is centered with zero play.

So if anyone was wondering if polishing the washers will make any difference to the deployment of the blade. For me Yes it does.

Make sure you don’t have blade play... sometimes you can take to much material away from the washers.

There is zero blade play, and the blade is dead on centered. Polishing the washers worked great, I did stop polishing them as soon as they were shiny. I kept checking every so often. I am glad I did, I didn't think the strop could remove enough material to cause blade play. That would have been a disappointing result.
