Opening Smoothness

Hallo! Just yesterday I took apart my AR 3.25 out of curiousity. I even put some Jacks on the moving parts. I reassembled it. Upon opening, I realized the from closed, to detent, to open the action was very unsmooth. Previously it had a nice smoothness to it. I tightened and loosened, reassembled, oiled, removed oil, and did just about everything but nothing changed. Once after having it assembled, I took a piece of paper towel on the end of a small allen wrench and rubbed it along blade's innards. It opened smooth! An hour later, it's back to its bad self. Any advice?

Thanks

Dan

"piece of paper towel on the end of a small allen wrench and rubbed it along blade's innards"

Did you see if this paper towel left any lint behind? If you get any lint or pieces of the towel in the inner workings of the knife I'm sure that could mess things up.

I'm not familiar with Jack's. What kind of lubricant is it?

does it have washers? Try flipping them. It would probably smooth back up after a little use.

Did they use grease initially?

I had a similar thing with a MOD tempest which was quite a stiff and smooth opener. I foolishly used some thin oil on it to loosen the opening but it became quite 'gritty' during opening.

To put this right I took it apart cleaned the oil/grease mixture off all parts with white spirit and re-applied some nice thick automoble grease and it is fine.:)

I should probably used synthetic grease but I don't have any.
