Afrer playing with my Leek for a day or so I'm starting to think it's a bit slow.

Not slow compared to other Leeks, but in an absolute sense.

Has anybody managed to put a more powerful spring in their Leek?

(Bye warranty!)

You might want to put some Militec or Tuff Glide in it. There may just be some dirt on the pivot. Hope this helps.

I think he just wants it to come out faster . He wants a stonger spring. Not sure how to do it but i'm sure it can be done!

Along with the lube, you may simply want to leave it open over night. When I bought mine I was told to leave it open for about twelve hours and that helped out quite a bit. I still do this when ever it seems to start dragging a little.

great tip Trane fan, I'm going to try that with some of my Onion blades tonight.

Verax

There was talk some time ago about a 'turbo' speedsafe coming out. IIRC Ken Onion himself mentioned it briefly here on BF.

Just curious--who told you to do that? Was it Kershaw, or just someone you bought the knife from? I'll have to give that a go.

My Leek opens plenty fast for me.

This information was given to me by a dealer at the Tar Heel Knife Show in Winston-Salem, NC last year. He explained that the principal was the same as occasionally emptying a magazine from an autoloader so as to let the spring stretch otherwise it can become weakened. Z'ghost, it worked for me, that's all I can tell ya.

Thanks trane--I'll try it with my Boa, that thing can't get any slower so anything'll be an improvement  :p .

ps...I love my Boa despite its tortoise like opening (still better than a manual).

Lube is good. However, every speedsafe knife I have, seven, needed a breaking in period. Out of the box they were all very sluggish. Now they all have a good fast snap.
