Hi

From where I am from, its rather rare to see opinels and if i were to import it, the shipping would negate all savings and put the knife into a different price point.

Thats is why i am happy to be able to find one of this used for cheap. Would like to know if this is a current production opinel 7 or its an older version because the wordings on it are different from what i see on the net.

I took a picture of the blade beside a mora.

It's fairly recent, the last several years at least. Some of my older ones do not have the extra notch on the locking ring to keep them shut in the pocket. That is a fairly recent addition.

As for the logo, Opinel makes some knives now and then for special contracts, so you may see some different printing on them now and then.

The number 7 Opy is a very nice pocket knife.

It seems that St. Jean de Maurienne is a commune in France. Probably this Opinel was made as a souvenir for tourists visiting that part of France.

thanks.

What should I buy? Should I buy a stainless opinel or another carbon steel? What size is most handy usually? I do not Edc it. usually in a bag. I was thinking of the sizes between 6 - 9

What is the name of the cheap outdoor equipment in the green packages that retail stores carry? Coulgans or something similar. There is a local store that sells Opinels in the Coulgans brand. The package reads camp knife but its 100 percent opinel.

Really? I'll have to check my local stores to see. That would be great if so.
