Just received my Opinel knife in the mail. This is not an expensive, lots of bells and whistles knife.
Many of you probably know about them, but I'm sure there are others that don't, I didn't.
This is a simple, inexpensive knife. I like it, its neat in its simplicity and its just different. It has a twist lock collar that locks the blade in place in either the open or closed position. The blade is razor thin. Seeing just how thin the blade is and the construction of the knife, I would in no way use it for medium or heavy cutting chores. This would be great for slicing veggies, food and light cutting. It's super light and comfortable due to the round beechwood handle. The INOX stands for stainless Steel. This knife only cost me 12.00 and some change. I think it is neat, different and has a gadget factor to it.
I just wanted to share this cool little knife with you all.

I have a #8 stainless Opinel with walnut handle, it was really expensive - $12.98 I think. With the full flat grind the blade is pretty thin making it an excellent slicer - you should see it slicing a tomato! Try eating a steak with a fork & an Opinel knife, slicing through meat couldn't get any easier!

The only difficult thing would be to find a better folding knife as cheap as these.

If you want a spare knife to throw in your BOB that doesn't cost much, you couldn't go wrong with an Opinel. These knives are great value, but they are also great slicing knives regardless of price.

I bought two. I got a Carbon/beechwood one, and a SS/Olivewood and switched the blades because I wanted the carbon blade and olive wood handle together (not offered together). The olivewood is beautiful, and the carbon blade takes a better edge and holds it. I bet that little Opinel can take more abuse than you think it will. There's a reason they've been making them almost unchanged since 1895.

I was looking at the Olivewood, looked very nice, I guess one of the best woods for this knife. I will be ordering an Olivewood ss #8 soon.

I've got one just like it but with carbon steel. I use it in the kitchen a lot. I just received a new #8 carbon in the mail last week. Can't beat them for slicing.

The 12 is great . Lots of people say its too big , but really , its like a folding kitchen knife. perfect for hiking picnics or travelling.

I think the steel in the Inox is 12C27. I also have the 7 in Inox and a 9 in Carbon great knives.

I have the #6 in Carbone, #8 in Inox & #9 in Carbone.

I like the #9 - it is a good size and can slice even a fairly large tomato easily.
I've used the #6 as a steak knife at Xmas (too many people, all steak knives used) and it worked way better than my mothers cheap steak knives.

I like the Walnut handle, but haven't tried an Olive wood one - I'll have to get one of those at some point.

I would recommend that anyone try an Opinel knife if they haven't already, at the price of them what have you got to lose?
