I was the fortunate winner in a giveaway hosted by LKJW, and this Opinel arrived today. It's the first giveaway I've ever won and my first Opinel ..... so this is a special knife to me! The knife arrived very sharp (what a slicer it is!), and with an honest patina and a nice note from Dan. I'm impressed with how tight the blade locks up - no play in any direction with the collar turned tight. And for a 4 3/8" knife (closed) it's very light and rides well in my front pocket next to my wallet.

When I won the knife Dan requested that I post some arty pics when it arrived ..... a tall order, indeed! ;) Lucky for me my wife was an Art History major in college so I got a little help from her in setting up the arty background. (I don't happen to have any French wine ..... Italian mineral water is as close as I could come ).

Thank you Dan, and I will pay it forward some day soon! Say "HI" to your daughter for me, too! :D

Hey Keith. I am very happy for you to have it. A great, simple knife. It will serve you well. Thanks for taking the pics (very arty). ;)

My daughter liked the pics, too and asked why I gave it away and we had a nice talk about sharing and friendship. Use it well, brother.

I was out on the tracktor today and a UPS truck stopped to drop off a box.My wife opened it and pulled out the Opinel#8 that I ordered, she had it in her hand and I could see she liked it.I told her that she could have it and she gave me a smile that could light up a small town.Good thing I ordered 2 of them.:)

Opinel Carbon are always a great workhorses.
I've only three 8 Opinels and two 10 Opinels and I stop myself to buy others. I sometimes use to gift them, always impeccables with anice patina.
Really!
good score!!

Thank you all for the comments, and again a special thanks to Dan for the great knife! I've been curious about these Opinel knives for some time now, but for one reason or other never pulled the trigger on one. At any rate I think it's pretty special that my first one was gifted to me - it will always be a reminder of the "kindness of strangers" (but strangers no more ... friends now), and what a great community we have here in the Traditionals sub-forum!

It obviously has a good new home. :)
