I carried my #8 today. It dawned on me that Opinels make great training knives. From handling and cutting to sharpening, they are a great choice. It also goes for retraining those of us that start using knives inappropriately. Just an idea.

Well, I'm not sure they do those things much better than numerous other traditional knives, but I am a huge Opinel fan, so I say, "Sure!"

Fully agree. A pleasure to use.

My little knife Amigo has a #10. Last weekend, camping, we shaved down and carved up a relatively dense 40" fire tending/hiking stick. Talk about a performer. It was like peeling and carving a potato.

A rare product, of any kind or purpose, that I still consider a true value for the price. Which is about as common as a Politician in Heaven these days. lol

I like them cause their have a nice old type of action, nice wood handles and a thin blade stock ground to a full convex making them the most sliciest knives out there.
