I think the Opinel blade shape is very aesthetically pleasing, and very functional. Are there any other makers with a similar blade shape?

Similar. The Opinel has a little more belly, but they're very similar and both great slicers.

The Opinel blade characteristics that I see are a razor-sharp pointed tip, most of the blade curve 'belly' limited to the tip, followed by a long straight-ish area. An excellent design and very practical.

For something similar, take a look at some of the traditional patterns. The sodbuster, as mentioned, is consistently the most similar to an Opinel. You can also find lockbacks, trappers, and other patterns with similar features. Check out the main blade on this folding hunter: http://www.agrussell.com/queen-birdseye-maple-folding-hunter/p/QUhhh39BEM/

But...

What makes the Opinel such a great slicer is the thin blade and razor-edge grind. Not easy to find anywhere else with the same blade shape.

The convex grind is what I like about them, and their thinness. I have yet to find that combo elsewhere.

Cold Steel did a modernized version some years ago called the TwistMaster. Interesting knife, but I'm finding I like kraton/rubber grips less and less these days.

Opinel has a shape of our traditional sword: Yataghan as they indicated in their site. Just google yataghan. It's the sword of Ottoman Janissaries.
Kind Regards,
