My local knife shop has a large wooden boxed set of Opinel knives. Im not really into Opinel but I bet there were 20 knives in this boxed set ranging from little to pretty good sized knives. Seemed unusual to me.

Its a nice set my dad buys them for about $70 wholesale for the 10 piece folder set.

If you need a bunch of really sharp blades that have to work for 8 hrs. a day, all year long, Opinels will do it. Once they are done, you toss them. Disposable quality blades, odd but true.

Yeah Opinels get sharp for sure. I have a few with olive wood handles, real nice. I am considering the set myself.

Opinels are great knives. Simple, sharp and cheap. I always have one in my backpack and also use them in the kitchen.

I love Opinels, but I wonder if I would ever use the really small ones. My smallest one is the 7, just right for precise cutting, but I cannot imagine the smaller models being comfortable to use.

A 10-Opinel boxed set is on my wish list. Especially want to handle the tiniest ones.

I paid for one on eBay a while back, but the seller apparently took the money and ran. :-(

The smallest one that I have is the nr 6. It is small, but still larger than a Victorinox Spartan, for example. It fits nice into my pockets, is light and has a sharp blade, but I rarely carry it. For me, it is not a suitable working knife, it is too small for that.

I bought the box set 3 years ago after having on my waiting list for over 10 years. It was $55 at the time.

It still hasn't stopped me from getting assorted other Opinels such as Walnut handled stainless in different sizes, etc. The set is basic wiood/carbon steel, from the smallest ( no lock) to whatever has I'd guess a 4 inch blade.

The box is well made, but it's a cheap balsa type wood that won't stand up to much wear ot abuse. Truly a display piece.
