I'm not a big pocket clip fan, but that new one for Opinels looks interesting. It is the one on that site that rhymes with sit smarter. The effective price goes down too, if you own multiples of the 7, 8 or 9 models.

Since Opinels are so iconic with the knuts, I wonder what the community reaction is to this development.

P.S. Moderators, since a pocket clip makes the knife ineligible as traditional, please move this to the General Discussion section.

One of the great features of the Opinels is the roundish hand filling handle with no hot spots (minus the cut out required to store the blade when closed, that is). Adding a pocket clip, while handy to keep it always fixed to the... pocket, will get in the way and ruin the roundish-ness of the handle.

The last thing a Opinel "needs" is a clip.
I'd rather drill a hole in the heel and install a small (3/32 inch diameter shank) marine "D" shackle for a lanyard. (not a "fob")

@$14 each I think I'll pass

there are plenty of more discreet mods out there if you realy want one

It's a hard pass for me. If I were going to carry an Opinel using a clip of some kind it'd be in the form a slip case with a pocket clip on it so that it didn't interfere with the ergonomics of the knife in use.

But... Why?!

Good question, exclamation. I don't use clips on any knives. This one seems interesting because it rotates with the lock. Since it slips on/off, it can be removed for prolonged use. It is transferable. It clips the knife in a pocket. If it tasted like creme brulee and cured dread diseases it would be the grail of clips. If I thought I would ever carry one of my 8's, I might buy one.

People don't seem to mind clips on every other kind of folding knife, ergos or not.

Is it all right to post Kickstarter links?
