There's a little indentation forward of the ring that holds the... ring lock in place.
It's like a forward continuation of the thingy that aligns with the blade when unlocked.
Anyone can tell me what that's for?

I'm heading to school in a bit so i can't respond immediately

What? I'm talking about the little square thing that goes forward, you can see it on top of the knife in this picture

see it now!
no authority on this feature.
but i suspect it's works as a position indicator, which also helps facilitate with the twist and grip motion of the lock.
also it probably is there to strengthen the lock structure itself.
perhaps the best hope is for someone who is in the know, can enlighten all of us about this curious feature.

Oh well, can anyone remind me what steels opinel uses, i searched around and all i found was some guy saying he heard they had 0.9% carbon

Sandvik for the stainless ones. Don't know about the carbon steel ones.
Enjoy your Opinel, keep the handle dry, and watch out with the tip of the blade (a very thin tip which can easily bend)

I didn't have to "read" anything, there are other sources to information, such as E-mails and personal contacts.

ps I understand that you live in Scandinavia. Feel free to contact me by PM, if you have any further questions.

How did you extract information from an email without reading it?

Have your subordinates read it.

I've seen it repeated many times on the forums that Opinel, Douk Douk and many French knives are made form XC75 and C70.
I think these are just French and European designation for 1070.

I don't think I'd buy one with a g10 handle. Honestly it just seems right, with a wood handle. Now a stabilized wood handle would be interesting, so I guess g10 is'nt that far off, even by my standards.
