I think I'll go with Gadunz. I suppose you could skin big game with nail clippers, but after a while...it makes sense to use the proper tool.

If you do end up using an Opinel, make sure you smear vaseline in the pivot area to avoid the wood swelling/shrinking too much. (Actually, it's good to do on Opinels regardless.)

They are meant to skin saucisson (french dry sausage) and croûte de fromage (cheese rind).

But that will be an interesting application, please make a video!

Hi. I think it can be done. I have a Sardinian friend who regularly skin wild boars with an Arburesa. Of course he manage to skin one animal, then the edge needs to be restored. But it gets the job done. The construction of Arburesa is, to some extent, comparable to an Opinel (without a lock). So I guess it can be done with no major problems :).

Have a friend in Missouri, that uses a No. 8 with the Carbone blade to skin and dress his deer every year. Most years he gets two deer.

The handle might get a little slick, the works gunked up, and blade dull prematurely, and don't try to separate any bone joints - other than that it should do fine.
Bring something to sharpen it.
