so, has anyone put a ring in their opinel for a lanyard yet? if so can you tell me how you did it and a picture if possible. i have a opinel No.7 i wanna set up with a knife lanyard

While it would be easy to do, it would be easier to buy a No 7 Trekking knife for about $10.00, and it comes with the lanyard.

I just drilled a hole. Easy peasy. Mine has a para cord lanyard threaded through the hole. I'll try to add a pic later.

I would also just take a drill to it then sand down the sharp edges, you should only have to go to 320-600 grit.

Pipeman, great looking piece. I think it goes with the rustic simplicity that draws so many of us to opinels.

Then on the other side of the spectrum, you have things like this that I wouldn't want for anything other than a conversation/desk knife.
(Not my photos, I just found these online)

My plan was/is to drill a 3/16 hole and use a twisted "D" ring shackle.
That way I can use my SAK chain lanyard/leash with it.

My lastest one came with a lanyard hole from factory. Is this something of the new models or what?

The ones with the different color handle and the lanyard are a new series. They are No. 7 Inox.

They are part of the colored series which include No 7 & 8 with and without lanyards, and No 4 keychain series; lanyards not found on natural wood handles. The lanyard models are called Trekkers in the US, and called the Bushwhacker Series in the rest of the world.

Inox #7 is exactly what I want, except I'll want to taper the handle like my Coghlan, which won't leave much room for a lanyard hole.

One more thing, as Opinel thrives to keep it simple, the Trekker models are also called the "Origins" Series.
