The minimally clad gentleman on the left had best not attempt that kind of carry with my Opinels! It would be painful and bloody!

That pic on the left is how I edc my Opinel. I tuck it into the back of my loincloth. :D

The Opinel has the unique ability to transcend all cultures. I'm not sure anything else can stand up to it, in that regard. Quite the interesting little knife.

In the scheme of things the Opinel is a very common knife, though around here I get odd looks at mine, and most, haven't seen one, but after they are introduced to the Opinel they want to obtain one.

In your neck of the woods, they need one in a Stockman pattern to be readily accepted! :D

Blessings,

Omar

I noticed that right away when I read that article in NG. That picture, and the ones posted by Stich2442, demonstrate that the Opinel design meets the needs of a wide variety of people around the world. Simple, inexpensive, and work very well. I wish all of my knives were as efficient cutters as my Opinels.

LOL OHALLUM, I know what you mean, if it isn't yellow, and Case, people round here don't know what to do with it, not that that's a bad choice in pocket cutlery..... I've turned so many on to the Opinel, and I'm a horrible salesperson. Once people see the price, and the steel (when Carbon), resonates with people.

Yup, I agree. I wondered if it was a typo, or the proper use of the word as a pun. ~Chris
Premeditated, I can assure you. I have always wanted to make that pun, I was just waiting until I had the guts. My apologies, by the way, to the good people of Offaly, Ireland, who are now cursed with a link to this thread in every Google search for their lovely county.

Aaaarrrgggh! What did we do to deserve such PUNishment?! :D

We have two #8's here, and they get used in the kitchen almost daily. Nice go-to knive when everything needs washing or if we're really busy. Great campout knives too.

I love that pic! It just goes to show, among the rest of the non obsessed non knife nuts of the world, all they want is a effective knife that cuts for not much money. Opinel fills the bill nicely. But that bare butt pic makes me cringe, it looks like that number 12 Opinel is about to take a slice of rear cheek!

Carl.
