Once you get the lock ring off, one side of the pin is substantially larger than the other side. Make sure you do not try to force the larger head of the pin through the hole in the handle. I used an old nail to drive the pin through with a small hammer. It was not a huge deal. I did read an account online where someone did not notice the one side head was larger and they forced that side through the wood and had a very difficult time.
