My plans changed for now, I was going to try and incorporate a second blade into my Opinel Slim #10 but for the time being will work with just the two knives, with this newly modified one doing most of the work.

The shorter blade is quite handy with it's long handle, ground in a nice swedge grind at well;

Worked out pretty well, cut the blade off with a dremel cutoff wheel at about a 45 degree angle and then ground in the wharncliff blade spine carefully on my Ken Onion worksharp with the blade grinder attachment.

Looks like a killer whittler Gary! I've thought about chopping down an bigger opie for whittling, and the thinness of the Eiffel blade would be awesome in wood... How easy is it to open?

Thanks, it's handy for that too, I used a cutoff wheel to grind in a nail nick and laid in a small strip of wood into the channel to help keep the blade a little higher.

Great job Gary. :thumbup: Is that an old mans face I see carved into the handle?

Thanks, and yes, a wood spirit of sorts, and boy it can be dangerous carving on a round wood like this!

blade is now 2 1/4" from handle to tip with 2" of cutting edge and very pointy :)

Great job. I have a #8 I tried to whittle a little on and that turned out to be a 5 bandage job that I won't display in public. As a matter of fact it became my wife's flower knife. :D

Ouch, sounds painful, I've taken quick breaths a time or two as the whittling blade went sailing past the edge of the wood and almost into a digit...I take it as slow as I can and also now I picked up some dremel tools to also help this process be a bit safer!

and thanks Barrett !
