Who likes Opinel slim more than regular models,I just ordered no12 slim to use it for camping food prep ,cutting meat and similar tasks. All opinions are welcome!

The slim no 12 Opinel is a huge paring knife not suitable for anything else than food prep. The no 8 i own is 1.5 mm thick near the ricasso and 0.6 mm at the tip for a lenght a hair less than 5 inches. Not a stiff blade. I use it for filleting and cutting veggies. The stainless steel takes a good edge, i sharpen it with a DMT coarse plate, deburr and hone it with a DMT extra-extra fine plate. I like it.

Number 12 Slim also makes for a fine fillet and deboning knife.
Though I suppose those tasks could be included in the "food prep" category. :)

Did you get the carbon steel or stainless steel version?
If stainless did you get one of the fancy woods like olivewood or walnut?

A 15 with some 10's and an 8 to give you an idea of the size difference.

I dont think theres slim opinels in carbon, only inox, and their inox is way better than carbon.I have regular versions in both, but stainless just performs better,is higher on rc scale, holds edge longer, easy to sharpen and has nice toothy edge.Carbon ones are not bad at all, just stainless are better. Will use 12 slim for food prep mostly and keep it in kitchen.

I've seen the slim sold in bait/tackle shops as a fishing knife.
