Just received my first Opinel..a #10. Sharpest knife I have ever used. Love its simplicity.
I have three questions for someone with more knowledge than I:
1) How long does it take to loosen up ring and blade pivot with daily use(10 open and closes)?
2) Where is the grind?
3) Do you sharpen as chisel or flat?

I've had a #8 for a few days and I noticed that mine tightened up on day two.

I used it for food prep and thought that I might of had something sticky inside.

I put some Eezox lube on it and it's ok. After thinking about it, I don't think

that I want it to be very loose. I like a strong lockup when in use.

1. my #6 loosened up after probably 75 opens/closes, now it still has confident purchase (not swingin all willy nilly) but its much easier to operate 1 handed.
2. i believe they are convex ground
3 I just put a V bevel on it because i don't have convex sharpening skills.
