Hello, I'm on the market for a new camp knife/heavy chopper etc. I was wondering if any one here has any experience with Entrek Knives?

I'm considering either the Warrior or the Ranger. Of course any suggestions are also welcome.

Thank you.

I have no experience with the knives you mentioned. My personal choice is the Swamp Rat line of knives. Do a search using the search button above & read up on what others have to say about these knives. Also check out the RatChat forum on the link below to see these knives chopping through cinder blocks, etc. If you're looking for a tool that won't let you down, Swamp Rat is it.
Compare the steel, handle design, price and warranty. The Rat was the obvious choice for me. Let us know what you get.

Entrek (Ray Ennis) has been around for a long time. He makes a pretty good knife. The one shown below is his Destroyer model and it has great lines, a sharpened top edge, and a nicely countoured micarta handle (it widens around 1/8" on each side by each bolt for a sure non-slip grip). The blade is 1/4" 440-C hardened to around 57-58 Rc. A good choice if you are planning to head for a corrosive marshy environment like our everglades.

The kydex is a bit thin (about 1/16"); but the sheath is solid enough to hold the knife in place when inverted.

I used to have a Montroc which was his original company name before Entrek. It was one helluva beefy, well made knife. Only bad part was the sheath and the knife so outclassed the sheath it was almost embarrassing. But that was easily solved.

This is funny,I was just about to post the same thing.I have a Companion comeing and was wondering what people thought about this company. From what I have seen thier products seem to be well worth the money and not talked about near enough.

I have a Companion that stays in my Truck. Hard working fully functional, beat the hell out of them knives. The sheath wore out quickly, so I had leather sheath made. I like my Entrek. Don't get put off by the 440c it works great. Holds an edge well and puts up with salt air well.

Never owned or used one, but met him at the Denver Custom Knife show this summer. Handled several of his models. They seem to be well made and very affordable, for what you get. Very sturdy knives.

Just recieved an Entrek Huntsman I purchased from a forum member.
Outstanding value.
Very nice edge, comfortable handle. Micarta slabs and 440C - the entire line is priced around $100.00.

well, i've never owned an entrek, and to be honest i never heard of them before i read this post, but i would say go for the Ranger. i've used 7", 8.5", and 9.5" knives (busses, which i would highly recommed if you can afford one) for chopping, splitting wood, etc... and that extra inch or 2 can make a big difference to give you alot more chopping power. not to mention i think the 1/4" stock of the Ranger would give you better durability and prying capabilities.

Another thumbs up here! I've beat to pooh out of a couple of his knives. Really good thrasher in my opinion..., and a bit tough to beat in the price range....

Found a warrior for 80.00 only problem they won't ship, it's by pick up only...
