element_%____Blue Steel_______WhiteSteel
Carbon _______1.1-1.2__________1.1 - 1.2
Silicon________0.1-0.2__________0.1-0.2
Phos_________0.025____________0.025
Sulfur________0.004_____________0.004
Chr____________ - ______________0.2-0.5
Tungstan_______ - ______________1.0-1.5

Both are very pure non-stainless alloys. (Note the low sulfur content). I have read that they get their names from the paper in which they come wrapped. They get their almost legendary qualities from their lack of contaminants.

White steel is a straight carbon steel.

Blue steel is an alloy steel, also very pure.

The white steel would have a finer grain structure.

The Blue steel would have better wear resistance because of the Tungsten. It also might be tougher because of the small amount of Chromium in it.

I have very good experience with them: very fast international shipping at a reasonable cost. I have a Kiku mini tanto knife, it's rather amusing, it is roughly the size of a letter opener but it is very usable as well. A very well made knife actually.
