plain standard titanium Sebenza versus one with inlays and computer graphics for the real Chris Reeves aficionado enthusiast?

i have a plain and a unique graphic.

im not a big fan of the inlays, though i regret not picking up a leather inlay before they were discontinued.

I've never had a plain. I like the inlayed ones and therefore bought those.
I do feel however, that I still need a plain one, but once you go for the inlayed, the plain ones look rather well uhmmm ... plain....:o:)

I have a couple plain large regular sebenzas and I really like them. I also have some CG ones as well. I do not have inlay sebenzas. I would like to get a large micarta someday or a nice wood inlay though. I have 4 mnandi and they have the inlay and I love them, so I am sure I will like the sebenzas just as much. Ever since I got my umnumzaan though, all the sebenzas and mnandi have been stuck in the safe :)

Your question was specifically around the large Sebenza -- good of you to specify. I EDC a large, and tend to run into a lot of sheeple folks. Graphics and inlays tend to "dress up" the knife, especially if you keep them looking really nice. The beauty and uniqueness of the handle slabs often draws attention away from the blade, and I get better acceptance of the knife by my friends, family, and co-workers.

I like the small ones dressed up with either inlays or graphics.

I prefer the large, plain.

I wanted more of a plain one cause I thought if it were too pretty I wouldn't want to use it. I got the dog paw one from Plaza Cutlery.

But I must add that I still want an inlay model. So someone please come along on the Bay and outbid me cause I really don't need another. LOL

My first Sebenza was a large decorated, but the one that got the most carry was a large plain. I am very fond of my large classic micarta as well, though.

I've had 6-8 graphic sebs pass through my hands. They are incredibly well done, but even the ones that I might think I could like have not been my cup 'o tea. I reckon I just want the best knife there is... not bling. The inlaid ones are super duper but I just feel like the plain Seb wears better. JMO. I will most likely pick up a sm. 21 woodie this summer just to give one a shot... so far I've just handled "classic" woodies and I never could stand the "Classic MM" engraving on them. We'll see!

I have a plain lg seb and I really like it. I love how the plain ones age. I have only one CRK, but I consider myself a huge fan of the blades. Id love to afford more like the other members here, but sadly I can't until I finish my schooling and get a good paying job:)

First things first - well said. Not all of us can stock up on Seb's like we want, but that doesn't diminish from our appreciation of the knives at all IMO.

I'm a mixed bag - I really prefer the look and feel of inlays, but somehow the plain keeps finding its way into my pocket. Funny that.

Wisdom beyond your years :). Nicest knife I had in school was a Vic SAK. . . . And I still EDC them.

I have had similar experiences as Fooj. I run into similar minded people and I used to carry a Large P Sebenza that would cause a good bit of concern, but after I switched to a Large Inlay with African Blackwood I now mostly just get comments on how nice the wood looks.

I surmise that a nice graphic would be even more accepted.

I've had wood inlays, have micarta inlays, and had some plain Sebenzas. I wish I would have kept the wood inlays, and much prefer the micarta over plain anyday.

I prefer the inlaid ones for a couple of reasons.

Firstly, they have more body which seems to feel better in hand and is certainly more grippy and usable. And then, I just happen to enjoy the look of them more. The inlaid ones have much more character and appeal than the plain scales. While perfectly acceptable, they're too business-like and cold for me.

My very first Sebenza was plain with double silver lugs and a short while later, I got a 2004 LE with walnut and it all went downhill from there :D
