I found a store in my neighbourhood that sells some good brands.
Since I am looking for a new knife, I went to his shop and wrote down the names of the knives that interested me.
Which one do you guys think is the best choice. My favorite is the Böker Integral or the Marbles Sport (when I choose for cool looks).
But I read a lot of bad stuff about Marbles and I dont know Böker... So wich one of them is the best in your opinion ?
Or should I go for the Buck Vanguard or the Puma ?
Mention I will use it for about everything from hiking to fishing and hunting. It doesnt have to be resistant to salt water though :)

The Marbles Sport sounds like a great choice. Many people consider the Sport to be the best of the excellent Marbles line. Just make sure that you can either live with the sheath, or don't mind sending the knife away for a custom made sheath. Some of the Marbles sheaths are not so hot. The knives are great though.

Hi....

All good knives...

Personally though,, I'd go with the Marbles..

Marbles US made
Buck US made ?

Boker,,Germany or ????
Puma ???

Have a look at Grohmann knives..
Nice classy knives and made in North America (Canada)

I usually judge a working knife from what material the blade is made of. Performance is on my highest priority.

Marbles : using 52100 steel : I think this steel is the best one for cutting. It stains fairly easy, but the sharpness and edge holding capability are amongst the best. Not to mention it's easy to sharpen.

Buck : 420 series : I prefer carbon steel for a working knife, and the edge holding capability is lower than 52100.

Boker : don't have any experience in working with Boker knives.

Puma : no such luck either.

Based on my experiences, I would choose Marble or Blackjack knife.

Well, I am not a "pro" but I do know Boker of Germany. It is a highly reputable Solingen-based German Knife manufacturer. I would go with the Boker, especially for the purposes intended.

Good Luck.

It is curious to me how few people have experience with Boker in this group. Boker is one of the largest sporting knife manufacturers on the planet. One of the reasons could be that they are so large they have knives in nearly every category so you can't really label them with a specialty. On our website the line outsells Buck by a little and Marbles by a factor of 80 - 100 to one.

At any rate, Marbles knives are well made and excellent. I think the negatives you read about relate to to their decision to change what they've been doing for the past 100+ years and introduce new steels and models (even folders.) It has been a tradition bound company with a tradition bound consumer following. The change is likely a bit traumatic for both.

You shouldn't think twice about getting one of the traditional Marble's models. They are excellent. You also shouldn't worry about Boker. They have outstanding quality control in both their German and their Argentine production plants. The Boker knives have excellent fit and finish as well and there is a model somewhere in the line that should appeal to everyone.

So choose what appeals to you. That is far more important than choosing what appeals to someone else. Take care.

I went for the marbles because I coulndt get me a Dozier (cfr my previous thread)
I ordered a Marbles Sport today for 110 euro (= 110 $). I decided to buy it because of the material (it is made of 52-100 steel, in my opinion beter then the "cheap" 440C steel of the other models), the looks and ofcourse your comments :)
I hope I wont regret my choice :)

I think most of the negative comments made about Marbles are the fact that they've become so hard to find because they're so far back ordered. But they are an excellent knife. But then again so is the Boker. I wouldn't hesitate to order a Boker fixed blade or lockback knife, both are extremely well made and will handle most situations that you would put them in. Now Boker's TopLocks and linerlocks...thats another story. You couldn't give me one of their TopLocks, they just didn't have a good design in either their auto or manual action. And their linerlocks, although made of top quality materials just don't cut it for hard duty usage.
