Opinion on a couple of knives...

My son received these from my wife's grandad, along with an imperial, and some cheaper feeling Parker Frost japan knives...
I'm fairly certain both are schrade contract knives, both are really nice F&F and both are sharp with factory edges, dont think they were ever really used.
Did some digging around and found a few things on Parker-Frost/Schrade
Still have a couple questions...
1) is the sheath correct for the knife?
2) what are the correct schrade pattern names for these?
3) are they less desirable than the schrade?

They seem like really nice knives, but ive only heard negative things in regards to parker... any positives?:)
Anyway hoping for any info, etc. to share with my son.
thanks so much

PS he's been carrying the mustang since he got them last thursday, a happy guy:D

I would be curious, also. The master blade on that hunter looks a lot like the ones I have seen on the Imperial series, rather than Schrade. The other one, the Mustang, is a little different than Schrade's lockback series, but they might have made it. By the way Schrade also named a knife the "Mustang." Seems to me it was the 125OT linerlock single blade hunter.

all the rooting around on the interwebs led me to believe schrade, although there were others he used, including imperial... dunno
Ive seen a similiar sheath in a picture but cant be sure was hoping somebody could give me a little info back story on 'em.
There are a bunch of threads about parker on here, very interesting...
thanks

Gene, the scrim is definitely Schrade, would have been the 261SC in Schrade scrim versions. To the scrim collectors I'd think it'd be just as valuable as the Schrade marked knives. The sheath is correct.

The lockback definitely isn't Schrade, it's part of the Imperial 4*15 pattern family, but not certain which number.

Nice finds!

Gene, Imperial and Schrade and Ulster merged in the 1940's. That's another thing I forgot to bring up; the 261SC and the white delrin handled Imperial Frontier 1622 were IMHO the very same knives construction wise, save for the lanyard hole, so your knife may well be an Imperial as well. Parker did a LOT of business with Imperial in the 1970's, many of the commemorative knives that folks associate with Schrade were actually made for Parker at the Imperial plant.
The lockback numbers under the Imperial Frontier moniker were the 4515/black, 4513/yellow, and the 4512/white(ivory). Now you'll have to find one of each:D

The Ireland made knives were a rather cheapened version of the American knives, note the lack of handle pins on the above linked green knife.

Here's a shot of a 4512 I snagged off the web, it's mighty washed out but you get the idea:

i did a cursory glance at the collector schrade site in the scrim section and couldnt find a "bear cub" version, so i suppose it was special to parker/frost? Dunno for sure...
So i may be looking at both knives being imperial?
Either way my son thinks it's cool to know some info about them...
thanks again guys
