Opinion On Pack & Razel

I've played with the razel, and was pretty pleased with it. For a knife without a tip, it certainly did everything I asked of it. Worked great for a hive tool as well :)

Also, having this version of Rahzel in the woods wood also be entertaining.

Fast forward to 1:25

I have owned quite a few Razel's over time. I've had ringed razel, folding razels and now a stubby CRKT razel as well as a folding razel. In my opinion it is an awesome design for what I use it for which is everything in the yard. The front edge is utility sharp and lasts a long time while the 90 degree corner provides all the point I need for yard chores. I have taken my Razel on camping trips and and in the woods and I just didn't care for it as much as a "normal" shaped blade. It's great for stripping bark and making notches but the handle is really small for me so I wasn't able to really man handle it the way I do with my RC3, Becker or my SDS.

It is a knife worth owning but not a knife I would carry as my only knife while on a camping trip but it would work in a pinch.

Buy one - they are a lot of fun. The ring is a lot more useful than one would think.

Oh - I have no experience with the pack you are asking about.

Hey Joe - what the heck is a "hive tool" If you see a knife for a bee hive I'll feel like an idiot :)

The Razel is one of those knives that you really ought to try. It's so much more useful than you might think. I've even used it to make a bit of a spoon with suprising success. The nice thing is that it does have a lot of strength.

My wife bought me one last year for Father's Day and I have carried it pretty much daily since then. She bought me the licensed version of the SS3 by CRKT.

I live in Cleveland, TN where the Graham Brothers have their shop and have gone over and done a bit of training under them. Great guys. Wish I had more time to go learn more. May be soon.

I'm with myright. The Razels are awesome utility knives and can serve a purpose in the woods, but that's not where their true potential lies.

I have owned and used several single strap packs and found they are great for light load/day trip/EDC use but to load one up and carry for an overnite or weekend will make you realize very quickly that two straps is better than one for extended carry of heavy loads. Unless you're an ultra-ultra light camper I wouldnt plan on using a sling bag for a weekender. Just my $.02--KV

Do you actually have something that looks similar to that? It doesn't look very functional - but I could be wrong.

Unless you work with bees! It is used to pick up and break the bee glue (Propolis) that hold the frames together. The fancy one has fulcrums on it to lift with.

I use a maxpedition Typhoon gearslinger as an EDC bag. These single shoulder bags are great, convenient and comfortable for use with loads up to 10-15 lbs. max. I'd go with the best quality bag I could aford. The cheap ones just dont hold up at all.

As to the knife. I stick with the most versatile design possible. A good example being the RAT RC4 or RC3.
